How it works.

There is a Six Step Process that we will follow in a logical, specific order.  My fee is based on your specific needs and the amount of time we spend together. Based on your particular needs, I offer different packages and unbundled hourly services.  Your specific circumstances and ability to pay will definitely be considered. There are no long term contracts or lengthy obligation. We will work together as long as we agree is necessary, and no more.

While you may or may not feel that you need each of these steps, I have been successful in helping my clients find jobs by staying in this order:

•    THE INITIAL EVALUATION-
It is very important that we get to know each other. I need to learn about you and hear about your goals and expectations. I will explain to you what I can do for you as your career coach. We will discuss the cost and what you can expect from me. Your participation in the entire process is critical, and we will discuss my expectations of you. I will want to hear about the progress of your career search and I will want to see your resume. If we decide that it makes sense to work together we will schedule your first meeting!
The initial evaluation is always free of charge.

•    FACT FINDING
This is a critically important part of the process. Many clients have no idea what they want to do next or what their most marketable skills are. This is very common, so don’t worry if this is you! We have to put our heads together to eventually answer this question before we go further. I am going to ask you about previous jobs and what you liked about them and what you didn’t like. I am going to listen carefully as you describe to me your ideal job. I want to hear about your successes. Together we will discover your Key Success Factors; those skills that will be the most compelling to future employers. They will be the core of your new resume. They will describe who and what you are. When a decision maker asks “why should we hire you?”………..your Key Success Factors are the answer!

•    SEARCH STRATEGY
Most people I know will use a road map when taking a trip in their car. Your career search is no different. We will create an aggressive, proactive search strategy that will give you an advantage over your competition. While the plan frequently evolves as it goes along, it works when it is followed. Otherwise your effort is hit-and-miss and you will keep falling further behind.

•    YOUR NEW RESUME
Your resume is going to be more than a chronological list of things you’ve done. It will be a brochure that really sells you! More than 90% of all candidates are screened out by their resume. Your resume will tell in a compelling manner about your most marketable skills and your successes. It’s one and only purpose is to get you interviews. The more interviews you have, the more offers you will receive. I guarantee it.

•    INTERVIEWING SKILLS
Interviewing skills are like your golf game. The more you practice and prepare, the better you will do. It is a skill like any other. Think back to those interviews when you felt uncomfortable and unprepared. We’ve all had them. Here’s the reality: you have less than thirty seconds to hit a home run! The decision maker will form an opinion of you very quickly. If it is negative, it is difficult to recover. Again, the competition is fierce. We will spend time preparing and practicing. When you get to your interview, you will feel more comfortable and have a better chance to win the job.
•    NEGOTIATING SKILLS
When you start getting offers, you have to be able to make the most of them. Most of my clients find this part the most uncomfortable. This is very much like interviewing skills; you will benefit from practice and preparation. You almost never can recoup from leaving money on the table. You will always be behind where you want to be and where you deserve to be. Almost all companies use a salary range for their positions and that’s why there is almost always room to negotiate. You will learn how to be closer to the top than the bottom of the range.
